Adam had been writing thematic country songs, generally in the Nashville tradition, but always knew that there was a fine line between country song story-telling and comedy. With Vince and Ernie on engineering and production, the brothers crafted Adam a new identity, and what came forth was a collection of satire songs that tried to poke fun at the history of country music commercialism: Bro-country, southern hard rock, ballad country, honky tonk, and mountain music. Michael Hull also helped out on acoustic and electric guitar work, and Andrew Bryant sat in on the video for “Leave Me on Read,” filmed and produced by Josh Harwood.
